Our affordable Zanzibar Honeymoon Package is the ideal romantic getaway for newlyweds.
Zanzibar Holiday Package Highlights include:
This Zanzibar Honeymoon Package includes idyllic days spent on tropical beaches and sensual nights infused with the aromas of the spice island. It offers the ideal mix of memorable activities and free time for couples to retreat.
This Zanzibar Honeymoon Package starts at the international airport of Zanzibar City, the capital of Zanzibar Islands. Your guide is there to greet you at the airport when you arrive and transfer you to your beachfront hotel in Stone Town.
Settle into your deluxe suite and freshen up before setting off on a sunset cruise. The perfect start to your romantic getaway, the sunset cruise is conducted in a classical Arabian dhow (sailing boat).
The dhow sails along the fringes of the island giving you close-up views of Zanzibar City, as the sun dips below the horizon. Passing Stone Town, you will see the historical stone buildings of the old quarter bathed in glorious colors. Enjoy sundowners and snacks as the crew entertains you with old Swahili tales of this fascinating island and its captivating history.
Arrive back at the seaside hotel after sunset and spend a romantic evening at the hotel or dine out (own expense) in Stone Town.
Begin day two of your romantic Zanzibar holiday with a fresh coffee and breakfast at the beachfront hotel. Then your guide collects you for a walking tour of Stone Town.
Highlights include the Arab Fort, the oldest building on Zanzibar, which was built after the Portuguese were expelled from the island in 1699. The building has had a variety of uses from a garrison and a prison to a railway terminal. These days it is the headquarters of the Zanzibar international film festival. Visit the slave market where the city’s brutal history is unraveled. See where the East African slave trade flourished – a grim reminder of times past. Stop at the Sultan’s Palace, now a museum, that was built in the 19th century for the sultan and his family, becoming a government building after the 1964 revolution
Enjoy some retail therapy in Zanzibar’s bustling market and in the many gift shops stocked with souvenirs and handicrafts. Wander down winding alleys, admiring the ornately carved and studded doors, the many mosques, and two cathedrals, a testament to Zanzibar’s diverse and colorful history. Your knowledgeable local guide shares tales of Stone Town in bygone days and can give you insight into life in Zanzibar today.
After an intriguing day exploring old Stone Town, it’s time to return to the historic hotel. Sit back and enjoy sundowners on the roof terrace, take a dip in the pool or head out for dinner. For a cultural and culinary adventure, visit the nearby Forodhani Market in Forodhani Gardens. This seaside garden hosts a bustling evening market with a feast of local and cosmopolitan foods, from seafood, falafels, and crepes to samosas and sugar cane juice. Alternatively, eat out at one of the many charming restaurants of Stone Town or dine in at the hotel restaurant overlooking the ocean.
Today your guide collects you from the seaside hotel in Stone Town, after breakfast. Leaving the city behind you travel to the spice plantations of Zanzibar for a guided Spice Tour.
Introduced by the Omani Arabs in the 19th century, spices play an important role in Zanzibari culture and the economy. The locals have many culinary and medicinal uses for these spices, as well as using them to produce dyes and hennas for decorating festivals and weddings.
When you see spices such as cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, nutmeg, and turmeric root growing in the plantations, it’s easy to see why Zanzibar is known as The Spice Island. Taste some of the unusual fruits that are grown here too, such as jack fruit, custard apple, rambutan, and carambola. Henna bush, lipstick tree, and lemongrass are some of the plants found here too. The tour guide shares his knowledge of the spices, which look very different in their natural state to the way they look in the supermarket back home.
With your senses awakened by the aromas of the spice plantations, it’s time to travel to your next destination. A blissful beach getaway on the northeastern shores of Zanzibar. For the next few days of our affordable Zanzibar Honeymoon Package, the Ocean Paradise Beach Resort is your home away from home.
After checking in you are free to settle into your spacious chalet close to the beach and freshen up in your en-suite bathroom. Spend some time relaxing on your own little terrace with a view of the tropical gardens, take a dip in the nearby pool or make your way to the white sand beach. Stroll through the lush, 6.5-hectare garden to admire the coconut palms, birdlife, and water features.
End the day off with sundowners followed by a delicious dinner at the resort’s restaurant, before falling asleep to the gentle sounds of the Indian Ocean.
On day four of this Zanzibar Honeymoon Package, a dhow ocean adventure to the famous Mnemba Atoll is included. After breakfast at the beach resort in Pwani Mchangani, you sail along the northeast coast of Zanzibar Island to the unique marine conservation area.
Dolphins and other marine animals are commonly spotted on this dhow sailing trip, so keep your eyes open. At Mnemba Atoll world-class snorkeling awaits. There are two quite different, but both amazing, snorkeling sites. One is a coral garden and the other is a steep reef that drops off into the depths of the ocean.
Spend a few hours exploring the underwater wonders of the Mnemba Atoll before sailing to the idyllic Muyuni Beach where a feast awaits. Tuck into a fresh seafood barbecue in the shade of the rustic beach banda enjoying all you can eat and drink. Then lie back in a hammock amongst the palms. Laze in the sunshine and soak up the tropical paradise of Muyuni Beach with its beautiful views of the private Mnemba island. Look out for locals working in the seaweed fields at low tide. Seaweed farming is an important industry with the algae exported internationally as a food delicacy.
Later in the day we board the traditional dhow and sail back to Nungwi where our ocean safari started. From Nungwi you are transferred back south to the beach resort for an evening of laid-back leisure after your unforgettable day.
The last full day of this romantic getaway is free for you to enjoy the tropical beach paradise of Zanzibar.
Spend the day relaxing at the stunning beaches in and around Pwani Mchangani and enjoying the resort facilities. Speak to the concierge about the optional watersports and tours available, some of which include diving, windsurfing, sailing, and kayaking or book a boat cruise or a dolphin tour (own expense). If you are feeling energetic the resort offers a fully-equipped fitness center, beach volleyball, billiards, and table tennis. Pamper yourselves with a visit to the spa or just soak up the sunshine, swim in the pool, read a book or take a walk. This is your day to chill at the beach.
In the evening celebrate your romantic Zanzibar holiday with sundowners and snacks at the hotel, followed by an intimate dinner.
Today this affordable Zanzibar Honeymoon Package comes to an end, sadly. Enjoy an early morning stroll in the lush gardens or on the beach followed by breakfast at the resort.
Then your guide collects you and transfers you back to the airport for your onwards flights.
NB: A marriage certificate, not older than six months, is required when booking this Zanzibar Honeymoon Package.
